Savoring the Insidious Spread of Cynicism
As the King of Sweden--or Hadrian, as he is sometimes called--has frequently pointed out, Republican voters seem more often swayed by words than actions. If a conservative politician declares himself a man of character, then it doesn't really matter what his record is; in their minds he's a man of character. They seem to draw the line at gay pedophilia, though, and are finally feeling a bit betrayed by the whole Foley affair. They may not be ready to give up on their president, but are losing faith in their congress according to this report.

Wow, good job at digging one out of the archives.
Nope, they are already blaming the Democrats for this one.
Technically, I think that he was a Ephebophiliac, not a pedophile. While most people don't usually make the distinction, I think it is actually important, the latter being so much more heinous than the former.
OK, had to look that one up. I don't know if it's more heinous, but certainly not less.
Finding the old reference, was easy, though. I just typed in "sweden" on the blogger bar and clicked "search this blog."
But whether people are calling it pedophilia or ephebophilia, and no matter what the spinmeisters are saying, the poll I linked would seem to indicate the people are getting fed up.
You don't think lusting after 8 year olds is "more heinous" than lusting after 16 year olds?
Oh, I misread and thought you were saying ephebophilia was the more heinous. Yes, I agree that pedophilia is worse.
Yeah, that's what I figured happened.
