Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

The End Is Here

As you already know, if you are a Lemony Snicket fan. It's really only near for me, and not completely here, since I'm not at the top of the holds list, but what better day than Friday the 13th to release the grand finale in The Series of Unfortunate Events? I will be waiting anxiously for my turn to read it.

Other than that, my reading has nearly ground to a halt. My fall funk has effected that in addition to exercise, and if it wasn't for books on CD during my commute I don't know that I'd be reading anything at all. I'm still creeping through Upton Sinclair's The Jungle and posting thoughts at our discussion site. Even though I only recently reviewed Jeanne DuPrau's The People of Sparks, I actually listened to it a couple of books ago; the Unshelved review just sparked me to action. But the one I just finished was Libba Bray's Rebel Angels. This is the second in what is so far an excellent fantasy series set in a girls' boarding school in Victorian England. I'm not inspired to write a review right now, but do recommend it along with the first one, A Great and Terrible Beauty. If you don't trust me, Mel Gibson has already purchased the movie rights. And this morning I finally started listening to the third Bartimaeus book, Ptolemy's Gate. I've been ready for this one for a while, but have had to be patient while I worked my way up the holds list. We'll see if the ending blows me away as much as it did Hadrian.

Although my trip to Phoenix didn't turn out as fun as expected... it did give me time to finish Gaiman's 'Stardust'.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the more mature theme and message. The bad-tempered star was hilarious.

Although I'm not really seeing Michelle Pfiefer as a witch queen dressed in black and scarlet... hopefully the movie won't disappoint.

Hopefully your interest in reading will perk up soon! Even a book heard is another book off the list.

Stardust is one Gaiman book I have yet to read. I'll have to do that sometime.

And now I have this image of a herd of books in my head. Interesting.

I have more powers of persuasion than I realized. Cool!

As I've heard before... nothing good can come of this! : P
