Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

A Book That Needs to Be Shared

I'm developing a definite liking for Amy Krouse Rosenthal's books. Many of them. I've used a couple of them in storytimes and blogged a different one previously (I Want to Be a Generalist). Here are some of the equations from her new one, This Plus That: Life's Little Equations:

1 + 1 = us

yes + no = maybe

smile + wave = hello
smile + ocean wave = beach

chalk + sitting = school
chalk + jumping = hopscotch

anything + sprinkles = better

blaming + eye rolling ≠ sincere apology
"I'm sorry" + hug = sincere apology

mumbling + toe staring ≠ polite
handshake + "how are you" = polite

practice + practice = learning
practice + practice + practice = mastering

chores ÷ everyone = family

soul + color = art
soul + words = literature
soul + sound = music
soul + movement = dance

good days + bad days = real life
once upon a time + happily ever after = pretend
