Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

A Brief Rant

The other night we watched a news special covering the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Many of the figures they interviewed said things along the lines of: "These megastorms are the new normal and we can expect more," or, "This extreme weather has been the pattern for the last few years and I think we can expect it to continue."

But then they'd astound me by following it up with something like: "I don't know why that is," or, "Who could have predicted it?"

I was literally yelling at the screen that scientists have been predicting it for years and they know exactly why it is happening: global warming.  This should have been a surprise to no one.

And when we liberals keep insisting on the reality of things like global warming, it's not because we want to turn your kids into heathens who don't believe in God, it's because we want to make every effort to be prepared for disasters like this one and so that we can work to prevent, or at least minimize, them.  We want to save lives and prevent tragedy.
