Separate But Equal?
My wife and I were reading through this KC Star report about the proposed budget going before the KCK school board to see if there was any mention of salary increases and found the section that follows. What are the chances that anyone would ever say this about a suburban school?
The tax increase will bring in $342,054 for literacy materials and $895,488 for instructional software and science and social studies textbooks.
Willis said the additional expenses are a direct response to patrons, who have long complained that students can’t bring home textbooks.
While the money won’t eliminate the need to share books, it will help ease the problem. Also, it means students will have more relevant and current materials.
District officials said it’s the first substantial increase in the textbook supplies for several years.

If the school's in the 'dotte... that could trump the fact it's in the suburbs.
Sorry.
