I seem to be handling the job better now that I've worked through my anxiety and know there will be an end soon. I'm getting ready to face my first hire in the next few weeks. But I'm feeling less depressed as time goes by and returning to my normal activities. I took the dogs running last night and rode my bike tonight, which is more back to my normal routine. I hope to swim tomorrow. I'm still not into the NYTimes, but I'm reading the KCStar every day. I'm also reading The Rover by Mel Odom. I picked it because it is a fantasy about a Hobbit-like protagonist who happens to be a librarian and learned later it also won an Alex award as a best adult novel for teens. It's been very enjoyable so far. I also just started listening to Wintersmith, the latest Terry Pratchett teen book about Tiffany Aching and the Nac Mac Feegles. Most excellent. And we're trying to have a bit of fun with a new diversion, an episode of Boston Legal each night before bed. I've found things in life to enjoy again. And I know I shared my depressing take on going back to being a youth services librarian, but I also should share that in my good moments it's nice to have a clear purpose and I look forward to rededicating myself to a job I've really enjoyed.
The other big news is that we've made an offer on a house. We still have to see if the owner will accept our offer or if we'll be able to negotiate a deal that works for both sides, but we really like the house and are hopeful we'll be moving at the end of July. A beautifully rehabbed yet modest ranch in eastern Shawnee. Let me know if you're aware of anyone who might want to buy or rent our current home.

That's great. I'm glad you're getting back to yourself.
And great news about the house, too! Keep us posted.
cool. you'll be closer to us now :)
Awesome news on both fronts! Don't worry about the haggling of price, it usually comes in between where you offered and what they want...so it's not too bad.
