Tour of Missouri
We took the afternoon off and headed down to the Plaza to watch stage one of the inaugural Tour of Missouri. It was a beautiful day and an excellent event. Two ProTour--Tour de France level--teams and 13 other elite professional teams from the U.S, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, and Mexico. Almost all of the top U.S. riders. Discovery Channel brought 2007 Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, third place finisher and U.S. champion Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie, Yaroslav Popovych, and some of the other best riders in the world. It was truly a world-class field.
We captured Levi, George, and the field heading out at the start of the race.
It was actually scary to have 120 riders come zooming by at speeds in excess of 30 mph.
Discovery leads the chase.
While a rider further back in the pack tossed her a water bottle as a souvenir.
Team Slipstream Powered by Chipotle reflects after the race. The riders, for the most part, didn't mind mixing with the crowd. Discovery was nowhere to be seen, however.
This is the final race for Discovery, which is disbanding at the end of the year. Slipstream will be the next big U.S. team, as they plan to acquire a ProTour license by 2009.

Tossed a souvenir, or just fucking littered?
Tossed a souvenir. It's like catching a foul ball at a baseball game. He threw it right to her and it skittered along the curb a little bit.
It still sounds like littering to me.
Sounded like fun to me. :) I'd be a little freaked having that many bodies zoom by me too.
That's littering, and I think you mean Tour DE Missouri
