Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

Selections from The Phantom Tollbooth

He climbed into the wagon with Tock and the cabinet members. "How are you going to make it move? It doesn't have a--"

"Be very quiet," advised the duke, "for it goes without saying."

And, sure enough, as soon as they were all quite still, it began to move quickly through the streets.

Then your head keeps changing its height and you always see things in a different way? Why, when you're fifteen things won't look at all the way they did when you were ten, and at twenty everything will change again.

The most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what's in between.

Infinity is a dreadfully poor place. They can never manage to make ends meet.

The only thing you can do easily is be wrong.

Everybody is so terribly sensitive about the things they know best.

"But I don't live here. I'm from a place very far away called Context."

"Don't you think you should be getting back?" suggested the bug, holding one arm up in front of him.

"What a horrible thought." The [Everpresent Wordsnatcher] shuddered. "It's such an unpleasant place that I spend almost all of my time out of it."
