Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

What They Said

As I wrote before you can't really blame the schools since they get sued when anything bad happens, but it's still a bad idea.

Childhood ought to include scraped knees, flushed cheeks and maybe even the occasional bloody nose, the “battle scars” of growing up an active, outdoor, tree-climbing kid.

Unfortunately, too many schools are trying to eliminate those scars by banning tag, touch football and other chase games from gym classes and recess. A school system in Willett, Mass., a suburb of Boston, is the latest to turn the schoolyard into a no-contact zone.

Yes, children might be safer, cleaner and bruise-free in Plexiglas bubbles, but that doesn’t mean they would be healthier or happier.

You can't protect your kids from everything. In fact, you shouldn't even try. They need to learn to face some adversity and unpleasantness on their own or they'll never grow up.

Rash by Pete Hautman I know it's not on your list for a while, a funny look at this in it's own way.

Kids should be aloud to be kids. Let the little buggers sticka penny in a light socket. They'll learn. And if they don't? Well, it's called natural selection.
