They Call Me "The Shusher"
I don't expect to ever have my hair in a bun, but the problem is that the longer I stay in the profession the more likely I am to resemble the stereotype simply because of age. I like to think of myself as not your typical librarian, but I have to admit I'm not that radical. Maybe a big, red beard would help.
. . . Librarians? Aren’t they supposed to be bespectacled women with a love of classic books and a perpetual annoyance with talkative patrons — the ultimate humorless shushers?
Not any more. With so much of the job involving technology and with a focus now on finding and sharing information beyond just what is available in books, a new type of librarian is emerging — the kind that, according to the Web site Librarian Avengers, is “looking to put the ‘hep cat’ in cataloguing.” . . .

I'm with ya Degolar, which is kinda why a lot of people are shifting around these days. It's hard for me to believe that people can work years on in end in the same job trucking along...these are probably the same people who wonder where the time went.
Which is why I think us younger pups don't want to loose the freedom we have to move around (with success/failure) and struggle against "growing up" and being responsible.
Even as people, we're in Beta.
Of course, the response expected of me is – “Hey (pitifully), but I drink too.”
While the truthful response is, of course, you can only dream you all will grow up to be as cool as me. ;)
