Through the Prism

After passing through the prism, each refraction contains some pure essence of the light, but only an incomplete part. We will always experience some aspect of reality, of the Truth, but only from our perspectives as they are colored by who and where we are. Others will know a different color and none will see the whole, complete light. These are my musings from my particular refraction.

Green Colorless Ideas Sleep Furiously

Had a new experience last night. Someone from her school was getting married and she asked me to join her for the wedding. So I was getting the iron warmed up and looking at my dress clothes when she said I didn't have to worry about any of that--it was a biker wedding. We arrived at the park at the designated time and joined the small crowd milling around the parking lot. Not long after, a train of Harleys came roaring up with a veil flowing off the head of the passenger of the lead bike. We waited while they parked and stripped off some of their layers of jackets and leathers, then headed over to a shelter for the ceremony. The minister was one of the bikers. Afterwards we headed over to a BBQ joint for the party. My first wedding in flip-flops.

On the house front, everything looks official. We're set to close on July 12 and take possession on Friday the 13th. Ominous. It's tempting to buy lots of shiny new furniture and toys to fill up the sparkling new abode, but that takes money and we have a shiney new mortgage payment to think of. We're searching sales and craigslist and the like to see if we can find a few affordable items. We've also started organizing and filtering 11 years worth of accumulation at the current place. Luckily we know a number of people who are interested in our donations, so we shouldn't have to throw much out. But as the new place isn't any bigger (just nicer) and we want to reduce clutter, we're trying to get rid of anything we don't consider essential. I think I'm even going to donate a large portion of my old fantasy book collection to the library (let me know if you'd like to pick through it before I do). We haven't made firm moving plans yet, but it will probably be sometime around the week of the 23rd, when I'm off for a week. That gives you roughly 3 weeks to get in shape for some heavy lifting if you are up for helping out.

Let me know the moving details and I'll see what I can do. :)

I suppose I owe you half of a move... and I wouldn't mind perusing your books before you rid yourself of them... but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to KC before you do so.

Guess who.
